Data NHS
datanhs
is the healthcare information platform of
www.integratedcare4nhs.org
(IC4NHS)
. This section specialises in gathering data and creating on-line directories to assist healthcare professionals with user friendly resource materials.
datanhs
maintains and updates the
IC4NHS
email database. We currently hold circa 190,000 opt-in-email addresses of Hospital Directors, CCG Commissioners, Department Heads, Consultants, Hospital Doctors, GPs. Practice Managers, Senior Nursing staff as well as non-medical hospital administrative staff.
datanhs
is also responsible for editing and distributing our regular eNewsletter, which has been suspended due to the pandemic and is scheduled for a re-launch in October.
For the past 6 months
datanhs
has been working with GPs and CCG personnel in preparing what is intended to be an official on-line directory of all the private hospitals and private NHS patient units throughout the UK.
An accurate up-to-date user friendly directory has become a must-have information source for GPs and their primary care staff in dealing with the surge of self-funding patients.
There is an estimated backlog of 7.3 million consultant-led elective care referrals which has in effect extended all waiting lists, cancelled hundreds of thousands of surgical procedures and eliminated a large number of specialised services.
Self-funding, which is witnessing a 39% annual growth is set to double its £1.41 billion market share within the next 30 months.
This unprecedented trend will change the entire health services landscape simply because clearing up the 7.3 million backlog would take anywhere from 5 – 10 years to resolve.
However, the self-funding phenomenon has exposed a serious information disconnect as GPs do not have sufficient information about private healthcare facilities and/or their consultants to advise and guide their patients effectively.
Hundreds of GPs who subscribe to our site have confirmed that pre-Covid they were never asked to recommend a facility. They merely referred patients to consultants, who in turn would advise the patient on the private facilities in which that consultant practised. While this is perfectly acceptable in those instances where the patient has medical insurance, it is not acceptable when a patient is self-funding and a compare and contrast evaluation process is called for.
New self pay patients are now demanding accurate up-to-date information on private hospitals and NHS private units as well as more detailed information about the consultants. They now require fair, balanced, unbiased facts which all current on-line sites fail to provide given their marketing and advertising infrastructure.
The on-line directory which
datanhs
is constructing has been designed to meet the information needs of GPs. CCG Commissioners and their primarycare teams so that these healthcare professionals can guide and advise their patients and refer them to the on-line directory.
